About Us

At Solus Pres, we believe that our enjoyment of God through worship is the "Main Thing" and our growth in our care for one another is the "Main Task".

Join us for

Sunday Worship

Our Sunday service is a time of spiritual nourishment and resting in Christ. There's no pressure to do anything else. Come and see what that's like. You'll be welcomed.

We offer childcare and children's program during the sermon portion of the service.

Our Story

Solus Pres began with a desire to plant a Christ-centered church community that's rooted in the compassion and the truth of Christ.

About Us

At Solus Pres, we believe that every Christian should be able to enjoy two wonderful realities of the gospel, the enjoyment of God through worship, and the growth in their care for one another. We believe both of these are possible only through Christ, and through Christ alone (Solus Christus).

Our Purpose

To enjoy God and to please him by glorifying him.

Our purpose is to enjoy God and to please him by glorifying him. (Psalm 16:11, 1 Corinthians 10:31)

Our Vision

Our vision is to glorify God by enjoying him through worship and growing in our imitation of his love for his people and the world. (John 4:23, John 13:34)

Our Mission

Our mission is to gather, equip, and deploy compassionate and mature worshipers of Jesus Christ, for the sake of loving others the way Christ has first loved us. (John 13:35, Matthew 28:19-20)

Our Practice

Our practice is mainly twofold, to respond to God's call to worship, and to respond to God's call to grow in love. (Hebrews 10:23-25)

Core Values

Core Value

Preaching & Teaching Faithful to the Scriptures

We are committed to preaching and teaching God's Word faithfully and accurately, trusting that Scripture is divinely inspired and sufficient to counsel in every season of life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Core Value

Biblical Counseling Rooted in Scripture & Common Grace

Biblical counseling recognizes Scripture's sufficiency and God's gift of common grace. Its distinctive is defining "human flourishing" and "holistic care" always in view of Christ's redemption and our growth towards Christlikeness. (Psalm 19)

Core Value

Community Built upon Hospitality & Generosity

We aim to build a community of word and prayer that is housed in Christ-like hospitality and generosity, welcoming of both believers and seekers. (Acts 2:42-47)

Core Value

Discipleship for the Sake of the Greatest Commandment

We are committed to the Great Commission as a means of obeying the Greatest Commandment, to love God, and to grow in our love for one another, as we imitate the Wonderful Counselor. (Matthew 28:18-20, Isaiah 9:6)

Core Value

Serving Out of Our Joy and Rest in Christ

We believe that our service to God and to one another must flow out of our joy and rest in Christ, with our priority always set on the finished work of Christ, not our own performance. We serve, because he first served us. (Matthew 11:28, Mark 10:45)

Our Denomination

Solus Pres is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination formed in 1973 that seeks to be "Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission."

Rooted in the rich traditions of the Protestant Reformation, the PCA emphasizes God's sovereign grace and mercy, as summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

Join Us for Sunday Worship

10:30AM | Fine Arts Auditorium @ Norcross High School, 5300 Spalding Dr, Norcross, GA 30092

Our liturgy (order of service) is grounded in the rich traditions of the Reformed faith, with Christ at the center of everything we do.

Whether you are coming as an individual or as a family, as a believer or a skeptic, we warmly invite you to join us for worship this Sunday.

What to Expect

We understand that visiting a new church can be overwhelming, so we've put together some details to help you feel welcome and prepared for your visit.

Our Sunday worship service typically lasts about 90 minutes and features a reformed confessional liturgy, gospel-centered hymns, and expositional preaching. We observe the Lord's Supper (Communion) on the last Sunday of each month, and on that last Sunday we also have a lunch fellowship after the service.

At Solus Pres, we believe that children of believers are a part of God's covenant community (the visible church) and that He calls our children to worship as well. We therefore encourage families to worship together and help our children learn to enjoy worship. We also offer the option of dismissing the children during the sermon time for a children's bible lesson (2 years old to 4th grade).

Parking

We have plenty of free parking available on-site for your convenience. To ensure the safety and ease of all visitors, we kindly ask that the spaces in front of the main entrance be reserved for families with young children. When there are other events, please feel free to use either the north or the south parking lot.

Children's Program

During the sermon, we offer an optional children's program for children 2 years old through 4th grade. If you'd like your children to participate, please plan to arrive 15 minutes before service to check-in at the welcome table. If it is your child's first time joining us, you will need to complete a registration and consent form.

After the service, we invite you to join us for light refreshments in the cafeteria and meet the pastor. We'd love the opportunity to get to know you better.

Our Story

Our Story

The core members of Solus Pres began their journey as the English Ministry (EM) of a Korean church in Doraville, GA. Over a nine year period, the EM has grown into a more mature and diverse congregation, also outgrowing their chapel space and needing additional shepherding and care. In response to these needs, Rev. John Kim felt called to plant a new church with the EM members, and provide them with a more sustainable structure for growth.

In the fall of 2024, with the blessing of the Korean Ministry (KM) of New Church of Atlanta, we were sent out to become a church plant, a mission church within our denomination, Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

Starting November of 2024, Solus Pres began gathering with the core group for worship at Norcross High School. Our hope is to become a "particularized church" (with our own elected elders) in the future. For now, we are blessed to be under the care and oversight of the temporary session provided by the Korean Southeastern Presbytery of the PCA, and the leadership of Rev. John Kim.

Church Planting Timeline

August 2024

NCA Elders of the KM decide to bless Pastor John to church plant. EM Townhall, official announcement to church plant.

September 2024

Fundraising efforts begin. The NCA KM holds a congregational meeting to officially dissolve Pastor John's role as an associate pastor at NCA and to support his petition to become a church planter in the PCA.

October 2024

Pastor John attends the Korean Southeastern Presbytery meeting to petition for approval to plant Solus Pres within the PCA. The presbytery approves the petition and assigns a temporary session of elders.

November 2024

Solus Pres holds its first Sunday worship service on Nov 3rd at Norcross High School.

August 2025

Solus Pres holds its first series of membership inductions.

Liturgy

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." (Colossians 3:16)

From the Call to Worship to the Benediction, we believe worship isn't just something we do; it is where God does something to us. It is, as one theologian put it, God's means of "recalibrating our hearts, reforming our desires, and rehabituating our loves." We believe this is not achieved by our works, but by the work of Jesus Christ, whose very Spirit leads us in worship. You'll find that our liturgy (order of service) is designed to make God's revelation to us primary, and our response to him secondary.

Pastoral Counseling

Members and regular attendees of Solus Pres can sign up for pastoral counseling by reaching out to Pastor John.

Different forms of counseling are available:

One-on-one counseling (for individuals seeking help and support to recover and heal towards greater spiritual wellness and Christlikeness)

Couples counseling (for dating, engaged, or married couples to help them explore and work through biblical, practical, and relational steps that are helpful for their relationship)

Both in-person and Zoom sessions are available.

Members can also reach out for "Prayer Calls", where they can share what's been weighing on them, questions they've been wrestling with, etc. and receive prayer and spiritual counsel from the pastoral team. You can request this through our Connect form.

A member of our Care Team can also be assigned (with the individual's prior consent) to provide additional spiritual and/or logistical support alongside the pastor. Read more about our Care Team below.

Pastor John also provides counseling to those outside our church community. They can reach out to him via soluscounseling.org.

Pastor John's office is located in Second Story at Broadstone Peachtree Corners.

Care Team

The Solus Care Team consists of our church members who volunteer their time to provide various forms of care to the members of Solus Pres, and those who seek to grow in their ability to care as they get equipped by the pastors and CCEF.

They are committed to asking two questions: "We want to provide care. How can we help?" and "We may not be very good at this. How can we grow?" This way, they do not only seek to provide care, but also grow in it as well.

Speak to one of the pastors and they will be glad to listen and understand your needs, and connect you with a suitable member on our Care Team.
